"It may be that the house of Judah will hear all the evil which I purpose to do unto them that they may return every man from his evil way that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin." Jeremiah 36:3 We can see from what God said here that "All His promises, His warnings, are but the breathing of unutterable love." Steps to Christ, page 35 It can be seen in the following text that God did not want Israel to have to go into captivity and so they were given time to correct their mistakes and escape the coming punishment that was designed to bring their hearts back to Him. Israel was warned before they were taken captive into Babylon.God's love can even be seen in the captivity of Israel and Judah. Many scholars reject Daniel as not having ever existed, but the fulfilment of the prophecies found in this book prove that Daniel was not only a real person but that God is wise and all-knowing. (See the Daniel 8 & 9 Timeline, The Knowledge Timeline, The End-Times Timeline, and the Revelation Timeline.) The Book of Revelation is the key to understanding the prophecy found in Daniel 8 & 9. Then God gave us the key to understanding this dream. One of these dreams Daniel never did understand though because it was “sealed” by God until the end of time. Many of these dreams and visions were prophetic, telling details about the future that only God could know. And God used Daniel in many ways, one of which was by giving him dreams and visions, and the ability to interpret the dreams of others. While faithfully serving King Nebuchadnezzar and later King Darius Daniel also remained totally faithful to God. The Prophet Jeremiah had warned the people not to resist being captured, and so those who listened and obeyed were taken alive, while those who resisted were killed.Īmong those who listened was young Daniel, of royal lineage, and because of his loyalty to God even in the face of death he became ruler over the whole province of Babylon. The story of Daniel begins with the army of King Nebuchadnezzar coming for the third and last time and totally overthrowing Jerusalem. As you read this page please note how much God does to protect His children who in are trusting Him enough to follow His leading.) While using captivity to bring the hearts of the people back to Him, God also used Daniel 1) to prove to their captives that their God was a alive, powerful, wise and loving, 2) to prove to us through prophecy that God is real and can be trusted, and 3) to tell the Universe what His plans are for both the faithful and the unfaithful.
